How to watermark photos with text or a logo

A watermark shows who made a photo and discourages copying. The challenge is to protect the image without ruining it — here is how to find the balance.

Step by step

  1. Open Add watermark and add your photos.
  2. Click Watermarks, then add text (for example “© Your Name”) or your logo.
  3. Drag it anywhere on the preview or use the quick positions; set size, opacity and rotation.
  4. For strong protection, enable Repeat across the image.
  5. Close the editor and download all photos as a ZIP.

Tips that look professional

  • Opacity between 30% and 60% is usually readable without dominating the photo.
  • White text with a soft shadow works on most photos; a dark version helps on very bright images.
  • Use a transparent logo — make one with the logo background remover if yours has a white box.
  • Keep the same position and size across a series so the set looks consistent.

Watermark limits

No watermark is impossible to remove, and AI tools keep getting better at it. A watermark is a deterrent and an attribution, not a lock. For previews you sell, combine a tiled watermark with a reduced resolution — resize previews to around 1200 px and keep full-size originals for paying clients.

Frequently asked questions

Are my watermark settings saved?

Yes, the layout including your logo is stored in your browser, so it is ready next time. Nothing is saved on a server.

Can I watermark product photos for marketplaces?

Many marketplaces do not allow logos or text on the main product image. Check the rules before adding watermarks to listing photos.
