How to make a logo transparent

Logos often arrive as JPG files with a white box around them. Placed on a coloured website header or a photo, that box looks unprofessional. Here is how to remove it cleanly.

Why AI is not the best choice for logos

AI background removers are trained on photos and look for one main subject. Logos are different: they contain separate letters, holes (like in “o” or “a”) and thin lines. Removing one exact colour is more precise — and keeps the inside of letters transparent too.

Step by step

  1. Open the logo background remover and add the logo (JPG, PNG, SVG, a scan or a screenshot).
  2. The background colour is detected from the corners and removed everywhere.
  3. If some background remains, increase Tolerance; if parts of the logo disappear, decrease it.
  4. Download the transparent PNG, already cropped to the logo.

No more white halo

Edges of a logo are blended with the original white background. When you simply delete white pixels, a pale fringe remains and becomes visible on dark backgrounds. The tool removes the white component from those edge pixels, so the logo looks clean on any colour.

What to do next

Frequently asked questions

My logo has white elements — will they disappear?

Only areas with the same colour as the background are removed. White parts that touch the background may be removed too; in that case use the AI method or ask for the original logo file.

Which format should I use on a website?

PNG or WebP for raster logos; SVG is ideal if you have a vector version.
