Make the right size at home
- Take a straight-on photo in even light (see how to take a passport photo at home).
- Open the passport photo maker and choose a preset, or enter a custom size in millimetres.
- Move the frame so the face fits the oval guide.
- Download the single photo for online forms or the 4×6 in (10×15 cm) print sheet.
Digital submissions
Online applications often require a minimum pixel size and a maximum file size. Download the photo at 300 or 600 dpi and, if there is a limit in KB, use Compress image with “Target size”.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 35×45 mm photo the same as a “biometric photo”?
Biometric means the face is positioned and lit so that automatic face recognition can be used. Most 35×45 mm passport photos are biometric, but the size alone does not guarantee compliance.
